Hugs

I'm really excited because I bought some tile yesterday. When we were looking at houses, I really liked this house because everything was old enough that it could stand to be replaced, but not so old that it had to be. All the other homes in our price range had either been totally renovated with materials that I didn't like and would want to change, or needed to be totally renovated before anyone could live in them. So this one's great because it's livable (if that's even a word) but I don't feel bad about ripping out the carpet and repainting the walls, etc. Which brings us back to the tile. The kitchen was painted with a flat, white paint. I like the look of flat paint, but I hate how it feels and it's no good for cleaning. So I decided to paint it last weekend. I thought I could find a color that I would like that would somehow compliment the dark burgundy counter (which I despise). I thought I found the perfect color... until I painted the entire kitchen with it. Bad choice. But it did make me realize that any color that works with the burgundy is going to be a color that I don't like, because I don't like the burgundy. So, I went to a local tile store and bought some bright white tile at just $.90 per square foot. And I went online today and bought some pretty little glass accent tiles in all sorts of colors. I'm going to tile over the laminate with plain white tile, and tile the backsplash with the white tile and the little glass tiles scattered throughout. And then I'm going to paint the kitchen a bright, fun color. I have a blue and an orange and a green picked out that I like. But, unfortunately, all I have is the tile. I'm going to use the money that I earn working once a week at the Frame Up for this project, which means I'll be able to get one component of the project per week. Next week I'll get a tile cutter. Then some nippers. Then some thinset, then some grout, backerboard. I've probably got about four weeks before I even have all the supplies. Luckily, I do have the sealer and the float and the trowel, and of course, the tiles. I can't wait to get started, but it looks like I'm going to have to. I'm so ridiculous. Even though I have some crazy hard tests coming up very soon, I can't stop thinking about my tile countertop, to the point where I just wrote an essay about it. Well, I better get some dinner started so I can start studying. Boo.

You are quite the handywoman! I couldn't do any of that, especially with a baby and a pregnancy.
