I finally saw an amphibian! Last semester I had to do a vertebrate collection, and the entire semester all I wanted to do was catch a freakin frog or toad, and the entire semester, I never even saw one. And I looked. I looked a lot. I was so sure that the day after the collection was due I would see a frog. But I didn't. Not til tonight. That makes me a feel a lot better. I would have been really mad if I saw a frog a week after the collection was due. This little guy is actually pretty big. It's almost 11:00 pm and I was taking something out to the trash and I saw a small animal moving towards my house. Because of the size, I thought it was a rat, so I approached it and was going to throw the magazine I was holding at it to get it to turn away from my house. But then I realized it was a toad! I got close to it to see if I could tell what species it was, but it's either not one I studied or I just plain forgot. This was pretty exciting for me, so I had to share.
