7 things about Miguel and me

I made it to Idaho, and I got to meet my cute little nephew, Dominik, and see my step-sister Brianne and my step-cousin Rainey and her hubby, all of whom I haven’t seen in years. I also met Brianne’s husband Juan, and Rainey’s little boy Noah, who is adorable. I was watching Chloe and Noah play in Rainey’s living room, and realized that that’s what my life will be like in about a year. Noah is almost 2 years old, and Chloe is 1 year old. A little over a year, Chloe will be 2 and Leyla will be 1. It was somewhat frightening coming to that realization. But then again, you never know what life has in store for you.

I read Jenette’s blog, so I’m going to share 7 facts/stories about my relationship with Miguel.

1.We met at a Verizon Wireless customer service call center training class. The class started at 6:00am every morning. I could tell he liked me because he was always staring at me. And unlike most normal people, when I caught him staring at me, he didn’t look away, he just kept right at it. And I would think to myself, “what’s with this guy?” At the time, I was too busy trying to get Matt to fall in love with me to be interested in dating anyone else. But Miguel quickly changed my mind, even after I flat out told him that I wasn’t interested in getting into a relationship. I wasn’t physically attracted to him when we first met. He didn’t wear the kind of clothes that I thought a guy I would get along with would wear. He didn’t have any piercings or tattoos. He just didn’t seem like my type. After dating for a while, I realized that “my type” was totally superficial, and that’s why my relationships never worked out. After spending time with Miguel, I became more and more attracted to him both on the inside and out. Now I think he’s super sexy, and he just gets better every day. Miguel claims he was attracted to me as soon as he saw me, but he says that when he looked into my eyes, he could tell that I needed a great big hug. It’s true, I did. Miguel gives great hugs.

2. On our first date, we took my dog, Lily, to the beach.

3. Miguel is a people person. During our lunch break at the Verizon call center, whatever table he sat at would immediately fill up with people because he’s so nice to talk to. He makes everyone feel comfortable. I am completely opposite. I would sit alone at a couch to eat my lunch, but Miguel made it a point to come sit by me and make conversation. I love his ability to relate to people and make everyone comfortable, and he says he admires the fact that I don’t feel compelled to talk to everyone I meet. I can easily walk outside and get the mail without striking up a conversation with the neighbors. He on the other hand, cannot.

4. We went through a big Yahtzee and Scrabble playing phase while we were saving up money for the down payment on our house. It was a free and fun way to pass the time. But then I started to lose Yahtzee every single game and I was getting to be a sore loser, and we’re both a little too competitive at Scrabble, so we rarely play anymore. Plus, it’s pretty hard to play games with him when he’s a 20 hour drive away.

5. Miguel was born in South Texas, but lived in Mexico for part of his childhood. He speaks both Spanish and English very fluently. I was born in Washington state and grew up in Idaho. I moved to Corpus Christi to get away from Idaho and to be close to a guy I was somewhat obsessed with. Miguel says he didn’t know why he went to Corpus Christi, but he knew he had to go. He says he knows now that he had to come to Corpus to meet me (aww). He’s not a member of any religion, but he has a close relationship with God and receives promptings. He’s also a little psychic. I was skeptical of this, but he’s read my mind enough times and shown evidence of his ability, so I no longer question it.

6. Both of us prefer a quiet night at home over a night out on the town partying.

7. Miguel is artistic. He loves to draw and has had a lot of fun putting together stained glass mosaics since I showed him how. He also loves to play guitar. I love to play piano and create art work as well. Sometimes we sit in a room and quietly listen to music while we draw. It’s very peaceful.

Ok, if you’ve read this, and you feel so compelled, you should share 7 things about your relationship. It’s fun.

Chloe just woke up from a much needed nap, which means it’s time to get ready for a trip into the big city of Pocatello! Yes!
