Chloe took up talking on the "phone" yesterday. Her phone is actually an obsolete remote control. She dials first and then walks around with her phone against her ear and occasionally babbles into it.
I have been feeling really good. I went to two classes yesterday and two today as well. I also got the results of the test I took right before I went into labor and I got an A! That's the first A I've ever earned from this professor. I feel pretty darn good about that.
Miguel has been keeping himself busy by pulling out the 6 foot tall dead grass along the back side of our fence. About a month ago, I sprayed the grass with weed killer, and then I didn't know what to do with it once it died. He's been pulling it out with his bare hands, and apparently tall dead grass is ideal habitat for cockroaches. He said he had them running up his leg, they got under his shirt, and he's swatted several of them off his neck. There's no way I could handle that. I admire that man.
Leyla has been sleeping, eating, pooping, and doing a little sunbathing. Luckily, she hardly spends any time crying.
My mother is wonderful. She's been keeping busy making dinner and washing dishes, which I love. She also entertains Chloe and has watched Leyla while I attended class. And she takes Leyla at night when Leyla doesn't want to go back to sleep after nursing. She's wonderful, and I'm really going to miss her when she goes home on Sunday.
And in more good news, I still qualify for the WIC program, and they gave me a brand new electric breast pump today! Nursing has been going really well with Leyla, which is great because it was a nightmare with Chloe. And I already have about a quarter of my freezer full of milk because I've been producing way more milk than Leyla can eat. That makes me feel a lot more optimistic about being able to go back to school full time. The only thing I have to figure out now is where I can pump milk at school. There's a bathroom in the library upstairs that has a couple of chairs and a coffee table and an outlet separated from the stalls. I'm thinking I'll have to do it there. I just feel weird because people go in the bathroom expecting to just do their duty and wash their hands (hopefully) and instead they walk in on me with a strange apparatus attached to my ta-ta's. Of course I would keep myself covered up, but it's still strange. And I'm even more uncomfortable explaining what I'm doing. Anyway, I really want to continue nursing because Chloe was sick all the time, and I know that statistics indicate that breastfed babies spend less time in the doctor's office, so I want to do everything I possibly can to keep her healthy. Well, I have a bunch of stuff I've got to do, so I'm going to get started on that.

So, yesterday I had a meeting I could go to with my boss to talk about neat printer stuff. Anyway, my boss said it would be good if I went but that I should probably be clean-shaven. I hadn't shaved in about 2 and a half weeks. Luckily, I keep a razor in my desk for just such occasions (actually for occasions where I forget I have a test and don't shave). Long story short, I shaved in the bathroom at work with my shirt off (I can't shave with my shirt on, it bugs me). Only one random guy walked in and he didn't say anything. The moral is two fold 1. I don't think anyone will ask what you're up to.
2. If they do then they're jerk and screw them (that part wasn't in the story but it's good).
Wow! is this one of those opportunities where we can share embarrassing stories? Oh yeah, I never have any of those... rrrright (said in Tyson's voice:)
Kelsey you are just plain amazing! I've said it before and I'm saying it again. You are one focused, talented, and wonderful person. I'm enjoying being here spending time with the all the girls and Miguel. I mean who can get enough cockroach stories! As long as they're happening to someone else that is.
Tyson I bet it had been more than two weeks since you'd shaved... did he have to ask you to remove any clippies from your hair too? Just wondering.
Hey Kelsey--
Stories about pumping brings back memories when I had to do it while I was at work. I didn't want to quit either so when the kids went out to the playground I would do it than in my classroom. I had people walk in on my and no one really cared.. and if they did they didn't say anything to me. You just do the best you can do. It was stressful (not going to lie about that one) trying to "find" a place where no one would bother me, but I couldn't keep up with it while I was at work. So Hunter had to go on formula when he was 4 months old. Glad that everything is going good.. The part about the cockroaches are gross.. Now it feels like i have them on me...lol.. Chole is a doll talking on "her phone"..
I'm so happy for you that Leyla is so good. That must be a relief. And kudoes to Miguel as well, I don't even like having a cockroach in the same room as me. Yuck. And I like your tata comment. That's pretty funny. I'm sure most women will understand what the deal is. I know it's a huge pain in the butt. That's why I didn't last long doing the pump thing. Good Luck!
My boss said she ran an extension cord into a stall because she had to pump in a public bathroom as well. So if you need more privacy I would try that. The cockroach story is yucky and I am so glad it wasn't you out there swatting them off your neck...ewww. Miguel is a good man! Chloe is so funny. I love these pictures of her on the phone.
Chloe is a little diva! Cockroaches are disgusting, and pumping is totally normal. I don't think you should have a problem with it. Of course, I live it Utah and not Texas so who knows.
