Between a test on monday, a test on Wednesday, my presentation today, the dismembered armadillo in my fridge, figuring out a Halloween costume for Chloe, pumping and nursing constantly to rescue my milk supply and taking care of two little girls under the age of 18 months, this week has been hectic (for lack of a better word). But all things considered, it turned out ok. I did better than expected on my Chem test (94%), not as well as I would have liked on my Mammalogy test (78%), and I didn't end up having to give my presentation today (which was good because I wasn't ready, despite the fact that I was up til 1:30 this morning working on it). My milk supply seems to have come back (thank goodness). The ar

madillo didn't fare as well. I saved the head for last. I was getting ready to remove the dermal tissue and muscles from the skull and the head just fell into two pieces. I don't know what happened, but I thought maybe once I got all the meat off, I could salvage the skull and glue the pieces back together. But when I tried to get the skin off, the skull just kept breaking. Since I don't know where the armadillo came from or how it died, I'm now assuming that it died from blunt trauma to the head because it shouldn't be falling apart like that. So now I have to try and find another armadillo head to put on my skeleton.
Back to the good, not-so-nasty news. My dad ordered a double stroller for the girls and it arrived this week. Since it's been so hectic, I haven't had a chance to try it out, but I did manage to put it together and take a picture. It's not the best picture in the world, but it works.
And here's little Miss Jackie Kennedy!

Last night I spent a couple hours putting together Chloe's halloween costume. They were having a "harvest festival" at her daycare today, and I didn't want to take her in without her costume. A few days ago I went to JoAnne and bought some clearance fabric to make her a Jackie O costume. It turned out pretty good considering how quickly I put it together. I still need to put some black piping around the waist and cuffs, but this is how she looked this morning. I was really surprised, she actually really like wearing the coat. I put it on her this morning to make sure it fit ok and then I took it off and set it down. She then picked it up, held it up to me and said "dee?" (which is what she says when she wants me to do something for her). I put it back on her and she walked around the house all morning with it on. She looked pretty darn cute. And it was cheap- under $10 for the whole thing. I wanted to make her a little pair of white gloves to go with it, but I didn't have time. Maybe I can make them before Halloween.
I'm hoping for an easier week next week. This one was pretty tough. I may have to hire a babysitter some time this weekend just to watch the kids so I can clean up the house and mow the lawn. I figure that's cheaper than hiring someone to cut the grass and hiring a house keeper. I can't seem to get any of that done though. I thought about working on it tonight, but this week wore me out and I want at least one evening to relax, which is exactly what I've been doing. I've been catching up on family blogs and watching a few of the TV shows I missed this week online (The Office, 30 Rock). I'm not going to lie, it's been pretty hard to take care of both the girls and try to keep up with school and housework. Going to school and taking care of an infant isn't that hard. Going to school and taking care of a toddler is a little harder, but still not too bad. However, taking care of both and infant and a toddler combined with full time school is a different story entirely. I'm far enough along in the semester that I'll defiantly hang in there, but it's tough. I don't know when Miguel will be back, but I'm assuming it'll probably be around Thanksgiving. Hopefully he can get a decent job at the refineries when he comes home.
Well, Leyla is starting to stir, so I better go take care of her.

O Chloe! What a babe! She is SO dng cute it almost hurts! That lil outfit is phenominal. I can't believe you just whipped that up, The pics are classic.
I'm SO proud of you - and not just for the darling outfit - for everything you are doing. You are right, just one of the things you are dealing with could be overwhelming but you are juggling many and doing an admirable job of it. I love the way you said you will "difiantly" hang in there. I'm pretty sure you meant definitely - but defianlty seems appropriatly given your circumstances.
I'm glad you are taking it easy tonight. You have to do that once in awhile just to maintain your sanity.
The stoller looks great, the girls look great and you didn't lose your milk - that' great.
You ARE teh bomb!
OK, so "perhaps" I should proof what I type before I post. It looks like a combination of text message (dng for dang) and just plain old bad spelling. Hopefully you'll be able to tell what I meant.
I love love love the Jackie O costume! You are one talented chica. I think white gloves would be icing on the cake but even without them she is adorable. Glad to hear you did so well on your tests.... I can't say it enough you are wonder woman!!
Oh my goodness Kelsey, I am soooo impressed that you made that Jackie O costume for Chloe and you made it sound like it was so easy. You are crazy talented, my friend. I can barely sew a button on a shirt and you can make your adorable daughter look exactly like the former First Lady within 30 minutes from start to finish. I am jealous.
Hang in there. Life gets easier. What are you majoring in and when is your expected graduation date?
Nevermind. I just looked to the right of your blog and it answered my question right there. "Biology major hoping to graduate summer 08."
Jackie O would be jealous! The pill box hat, the stylin jacket. You hit the nail on the head. (an added bonus that Chloe has the perfect coloring.)
I love that you came up with the idea. So much better than the standard princes/fairy.
I'm sorry that it is so tough right now. You constantly impress us all with your determination and strength.
How there is time to be creative???
(:
That costume is super cool. She must have a very talented mother to be able to come up with such great ideas and make them look so good for so cheap.
