Gas
I have to quote a line from a Bloc Party song, "the price of gas keeps on rising, nothing comes for free." When I put together my guest bedroom, I tucked our bikes back behind a table so they were out of the way and really hard to get to. Well, now that gas has hit $3.50 a gallon, the bikes are out. I just got back from a test run to the grocery store on my bike. It actually went really well. It didn't take long at all and it was a pretty pleasant little ride. I put a milk crate on the back of my bike and wore an empty backpack so I could bring the groceries home. It worked quite well.Shoes

Progression
(yes, I park my car on the lawn. If I park too close to the neighbor's gate, I can't open my door all the way)

Quilt
As you can see in these pictures, it's time for me to get new shoes. I've been working out a lot this semester and doing lots of running both on the treadmill and outside on the little nature trail at the university.
(you can't really see it, but the air pocket is totally cracked and useless)
My shoes are a little worse for wear, so I finally bought some new ones on Friday. I went to a store that advertises the fact that they help you find the right shoe. I wanted to go there because I've bought the wrong shoe before and ended up with huge blisters. Anyway, they did help me find the perfect shoe, but they didn't have it in my size, so I have to wait another week before I get the benefits of dropping a wad of cash at the shoe store. Here's what they'll probably look like. I didn't specify a color, so I'm not sure which color I'll get. It'll be a surprise.
Dr.Seuss Tree
I love this tree! It's in our front yard and it only blooms for a very short time. It also drops is leaves before any other tree in the area, so most of the time it just looks like a dead twig in our front yard. But not right now...

Progression
I love this sequence of pictures. This also doubles as the debut of our new door that I was supposed to post a few months ago. Miguel had the camera and he was across the street talking to the neighbor. I was inside watching Chloe and the door was ajar...
Quilt
I know I posted some pictures of Leyla's quilt while I was working on it, but I don't think I ever posted the finished product. It's actually not finished yet because I want to do some more machine quilting on some blocks (see the yellow block in the close-up picture), but the edges are finished, so she can use it now. I've been having too much fun with that quilt though. I'll make the matching bumpers once school's out in a few weeks.

I think blogger has a limit on how many pictures you can put in one post. For that reason, I'm going to wait and post all my cute pictures of the girls until tomorrow. Plus, it's getting late, so I need to head to bed since I know Leyla won't let me sleep in.

This is one diverse post! Luckily I booked myself 1/2 hr to check it all out. (:
I don't think we have the exact tree you have there be we sure have alot of alien looking things like it. They are very Suess like.
The Chloe progression is cute. I'm wondering about the red gas can.... is this a habit? Turpentine in the back, gas out front... (:
I hope your running in new shoes feels like heaven. I have been on a fruitless shoe hunt for weeks now.
I just need trailrunners.
Ah yes, the red gas can. I noticed that after the fact as well. Miguel had just finished mowing the lawn. It's usually out back... next to the turpentine.
Glad the trip to the store went well. Gas prices are ridiculous and just going to get worse I fear...Nice to get some exercise and save money at the same time.
I like the pics of the door and Miniature Miss Chloe in the doorway. Your plants and yard look terrific. As does the cute quilt for Leyla.
Is there anyway you could rig up some sort of shelter and place to lock up the bikes outdoors?
I thought about that, but there's just so much salt and moisture in the air here that they would get rusty.
Wow, that tree is amazing, I have never seen anything like it! The house looks great. It's always great being able to call your house a home and know it's yours. The front door looks great too!!
