Barely Legal

Miguel and I did something we've only done once before: went out without the kids! We got my friend Amy to watch the kids, and we took his little row boat out fishing. It was so fun! I haven't been fishing in such a long time. The last time was when I was trying to catch fish for my vertebrate biology class, and it wasn't very enjoyable since it was for a class.

The point is, we had a really nice time out on the boat and I caught two speckled sea trout, both of which were just the legal limit (15 inches). I caught the first one on my first cast once I put a lure on the line. I caught the other one using shrimp.
Introducing Chloe to the fish...
Miguel, on the other hand, caught a well over the minimum sized flounder! This is the first time that he's ever caught one, and the first time I've ever seen a live one (excluding the ones at the fish hatchery). He's out getting them ready for the grill right now.And I caught a sheepshead, but we weren't sure what it was when I caught it, so we threw it back. Then I remembered what it was, and Miguel caught it again about an hour later, so we kept it that time.
We also caught a bunch of other fish. I think they're called piggie perch, but I'm not sure. They're not the kind of fish you keep and eat though.

It was a lot of fun for us to get some alone time outside of the house. That pretty much never happens.

Update: Miguel cooked my sea trout on the grill outside, and I ate one of them, and it was really good. And those of you who know me pretty well know that I don't usually like fish or sea food.

That sounds like a really fun day! It MUST have been really good fish, cause I know how you feel about eating them! I'm glad you got to spend some time out together.
PS we've been out of cell phone range. I'll try to call tomorrow.

Your decorating looks great! I love your bathroom, and you defiantly have the Vaden artistic knack, the picture in the living room is amazing! I am right there with you on the list a mile long. It never gets shorter, even as you cross things off!
