I made Barefoot Contessa coconut cupcakes, but I didn't want to have to unload a dozen cupcakes on my neighbors, so I tried to cut the recipe in half. It didn't work too well. But the girls didn't seem to mind. And once I got the frosting and coconut on top, you couldn't even tell how ugly the cupcake underneath it all was.
I took a video of me singing happy birthday to Leyla and bringing her the plate of cupcakes. I'll post that later. Then Chloe blew out the candle for Leyla. I decided I needed to get some still shots of Leyla with her birthday candle, so I re-lit the candle. As you can see, Leyla wasn't too happy about that. She's holding an apple because Chloe gave it to her while I was lighting the candle.

I LOVE those pics! Little bugger indeed. I especially like the one of her checking out the bowl, as if to say "Hmmm, there could be some conflicts with Chloe on this, but it's mine, mine, mine, do you hear me!" The cupcakes looked delicious to me and the girls seem to be enjoying them. Hope you get can get rested back up in the next week. It sure takes a while to get over so much and your system has been bombarded. Hang in there! Love you!
Hard to believe she is already 1! What a little cutie. I love the one where she is staring totally mesmerized at the fish bowl too. Kid birthday "parties" are always exhausting. I think partly because of the stress we put on ourselves by wanting it to be "just so". It looks like all your hard work paid off though and that is reward enough.
You sounded so tired last night. I hope the body catches up soooooon.
My favorite pic is the second to last one where Leyla is looking at the bowl.
One year already!!
Wow, I can't believe Leyla is already a year old! She's so cute.
