Big step

I just called my boss and asked for a raise. This is a really big deal for me. My severe fear of rejection has prevented me from ever asking for a raise in any job I've ever had. But I had to in this case. If I don't get a raise, then I'll end up going into debt paying the daycare. (Daycare costs $10 a week more than my take-home pay). The problem is, the economy is crap, and the university is in a hiring freeze, so there's a good chance I won't get my raise. But I pleaded my case, and if I don't get the raise, then that just gives me more time to spend with my girls, right?

Ha ha. Leyla just gave me a high five.

On another note, I've been trying to potty train, and I don't think I'm going to be able to continue unless I get another potty seat. Leyla's actually more interested in the potty than Chloe, which causes a jealous outrage from Chloe every time she touches it.

Anyway, hopefully they'll be able to get me a raise. If not... I guess that'll just give me more time to fill out job applications.

congrats kelsey, it's about time. you are definitely worth a lot more. i am glad you did it, for your own personal sake, not just for monetary reasons. i am proud of you, and personally i think samocha just likes to cry about money (like most rich people). know that i am behind you.

That's a BIG step! Good for you overcoming your fear and addressing the issue. I knew you could do it. Scary though, huh?
I had to laugh about the potty fascination. Of course Leyla is obessed with it and Chloe isn't, that's always the way of things. Good luck on both counts. Way to go Missy!
