A good morning

Last week I told Lucy (the girl from China who is here on some sort of research grant) that I would show her around the university so she could see the new, fully functional research labs and possibly get in contact with some of the professors. So we planned it for today at 10:00am. She was very excited to hear that the girls were coming seeing as how she adores Chloe and Leyla. She invited Jonathan, a somewhat new guy we work with. And I invited Will, a guy who was in my Ichthyology class who works in the labs and has keys to a lot of the science labs.

When we got there, the Research Institute was locked. Go figure. And Will doesn't have keys to that building. That was a let down, because that's the main building I wanted Lucy to see. But we had lots of fun anyway. The girls were in fine form, and Lucy was ecstatic to see them and pick flowers for them. The girls got to see lizards and turtles and fish in the vert lab and pigeons outside the labs. And there was plenty of room for them to run around and scream. I love that being on that campus. It's really beautiful. And since it was Saturday, there weren't many people there at all.

Anyway, the point is that I had a lot of fun with the girls and my friends. It was nice to get out and do something with a group of friends. But for now, I have a super smelly diaper to change. Thanks Leyla.

Let me just say I really admire your ability to take care of two little girls AND go to work AND go to school (even though you graduated by now. Congrats, by the way). Doing all that can't be easy. I hope I can do the same though...I know I'll hate myself later if I don't finish school!

Sounds like Leyla gave you an early mother's day present... Glad you have a good outing with the girls and some friends. A change of pace for sure.
