Summer 2010

So... I never post anymore. Oh well. I suppose that happens. Here's what we've been up to lately...

Leyla has a new pair of pink boots. She loves them. Her daddy bought them for here on a quick trip to Corpus.
(Speaking of the girls' daddy, he has finally calmed down and has been behaving himself very well for the past 6 months or so. Maybe the craziness is FINALLY over. I sure hope so.)
Chloe took this picture of Leyla at the car dealership. I think it may be the best picture of all time.
This picture is obviously old because Leyla's in a diaper. She's all potty trained now. Thank goodness! This picture is still funny though.
And she even dresses herself... sort of.
Chloe started pre-K in her daycare a few weeks ago. We were having a lot of behavior problems with her in her previous classroom, but not since she started pre-K. She is SOOOO smart. And a good artist. She's also VERY dramatic and scared of just about everything. She may not look like me, but she's pretty much a carbon copy. And this is the last picture we have of Pinky the birthday snake. She escaped a few months ago and has yet to be seen. :(
Shane's been anxiously awaiting the arrival of his first green pepper. He has six very tall, very healthy-looking plants, but no peppers! He's been having a good time playing the guitar that everyone pitched in on and got him for his birthday. It's very nice.

Dylan started high school and high school football this year. He's such a funny kid. And he's really good with the Chloe and Leyla. I've enjoyed going to the football games, and I've discovered that I can't scream like I used to. My throat hurts!

Sissy started middle school this year, which she was VERY excited about. She's such a pretty little girl and so helpful with Chloe and Leyla. And that girl loves to help cook. She helped me make Shane's birthday cake. So naturally, the cream cheese icing was colored blue. On a carrot cake.

And me? I've been getting ready to run the Harbor Half Marathon. I did it last year in two hours and 2 minutes. My goal this year is to run it under 2 hours. I've been following a nike coach program along with my nike+ system, in hopes that I'll be able the finish the run a lot more comfortably than last year.

Also, I had a job interview yesterday! I actually enjoy my current job a lot, but my paycheck is pretty sorry, and there's not really any chance of it getting any better. The job I applied for is with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. It's an air quality position. Pays almost double what I make now and includes state benefits. Hells yes. Here's a picture of my interview attire:I went to burlington coat factory in search of a professional, black suit. Could not find it, but I did find this, which fits my personality much better, and I liked the fit, and the price was great, so I bought it. (thanks mom) I really like the shoes. Also a great price, and really cute.
I felt like the interview went well. Will I get the job? I don't know. I won't be surprised if I don't. But here's the great part. While I was there, I found out that there's a vacancy in the water quality division at the same level. Meaning, it should have the same pay, and I would be extremely qualified for the position. So if I don't get this air quality position, I will apply for the water quality position when it is posted (probably within a week or so), and now that I'm familiar with the interview process, I would think I'd be somewhat of a shoe-in. I'm not trying to toot my own horn or anything, but water quality is what I do. 40 hours per week. Water quality.

Let's not forget about my birthday! My mom came down and visited, which was wonderful!
We had my favorite- tapioca pudding.

And took a trip to the aquarium:

Leyla's sad face. Looks like her head is on backwards.

Leyla did not want to be in the picture with me.

...but she was perfectly happy being photographed all alone.
My mom got some really cute shots of Chloe...
And that's it for this update. Hopefully I'll do another one before 6 months goes by.

Loved all the pictures and the update! I'm so glad that everything is settling down and better for you and that Miguel is better too. Shane seems like the best guy and his kids seem great too. You and your girls look gorgeous of course. I REALLY hope you get that job too, that would be awesome. Keep us posted. I also love your mom and am so happy she got to come visit. I'm sure she misses you guys like crazy.

Ahhh....the long awaited post! I love it. The suit looks very nice - and you're correct. It DOES look much more like you and I think it was a perfect choice for in interview. You look smashing! (But then I think you look beautiful all the time- I'm allowed that opinion. I'm your mom:0)
Looks like you chose a few of the photos I was going to post - so I'll use some others...
Can't wait to hear about the job prospects... There's a lot of people rooting for you.

Oh, and you're right. That photo of Leyla Chloe took is priceless and the one with the bubble butt diaper is a classic.
Good times.

Cute pictures! Your girls are seriously adorable. I really hope you get either the air quality or the water quality job. Keep us posted. And good luck with your half marathon! :)

Nice to catch up with you and the girls. Hope you get one of the jobs you applied for! The girls are adorable as always--cute as buttons (if buttons can be called cute I guess). Good luck with the marathon. Always good to have a goal.

Yay!! A post. (Ok I know we talked about all this, but its nice to have the pictures!) Did the Iphoto re-sizing thing work?

Leyla seems primed to be a dramatic actress. She certainly has some extreme expressions which translate well on camera. Even managed a bubble but with pride! (:

I know from talking with your mom that Chloe is on the fast track sensitive artist. Walls, toilets anywhere she can draw.

Your suit looks perfect. The black suit thing is a bit of a fallacy in the more casual fields (and I would certainly consider air quality/water quality outside the fortune 500 business track). So you were perfect.

Keep us posted (no pun.. really!) on your job possibilities. My fingers are crossed.
