This last week has been stupid. I wanted to jog around the cooling lake at work at least one more time before my last day. Tuesday was beautiful. The weather was perfect. I was jogging along, and at mile three, I managed to trip over something and could not catch myself. I fell on the crappy old asphalt and got road rash all over my left leg and hip and fell on the elbow that I broke a few years ago. It was the stupidest thing ever. I took up jogging over 10 years ago and have never just fallen down before. Anyway, I walked it off and continued the rest of the 6.5 mile jog with a bloody leg and sore elbow. I got myself all cleaned up when I got back to work, but my elbow and the road rash hurt for days and days after. My elbow is still giving me problems.
On Friday, I had my weekly doctor's appointment. I've been going in every 1-2 weeks since I got stabbed in the toe by a shrimp back in June. We've been trying to get rid of a nasty hemangioma on my shoulder using a pulsed-dye laser. After months, the doctor seems to have found the right combination of treatments, which is an aggressive laser treatment on the lesion followed up by an injection of steroids. So, I went in for my weekly laser/steroid treatment on Friday, which was my last day of work. After my appointment, I went to work and received a call from the daycare. Chloe had thrown up. I called Shane to see if he could take the day off. He could not. I also could not take the day off because it was my last day and I still had some necessary training to do with my replacement. So, I took Chloe to work with me. We have a trailer at work with couches and a dining table and whatnot. So I set her up in there with coloring books and cartoons and pedialite. It actually worked out pretty well. I was able to complete my training and enjoy the company of my little girl on my last day of work.
However, during the day, I changed the band-aid on my shoulder hemangioma. I noticed something a little odd. I could see where the doctor had injected the steroid. It looked like a little white-head at the base of the hemangioma. I didn't think too much about it and covered it up with a band-aid. The next day, my shoulder had a mild pain all day long. I had removed the band-aid earlier and was wearing a tank-top. Later in the evening, I reached up to put something away in the closet. I noticed that some pus had come out of one of the needle marks on my shoulder. No wonder it was hurting all day! So i went to the bathroom to clear it out and put some alcohol on it. I was not prepared for what followed. All I had to do was touch anywhere on my skin within an inch of the lesion, and a pinkish colored pus would almost literally pour out of the wound. There were three needle holes and they were all spewing the stuff with any sort of gentle pressure applied to the skin surrounding the wound. I wanted to get it all out to relieve the pressure. After 20 minutes of removing the pinkish pus, I decided to call my mom who suggested calling the doctor's exchange. I got right through to the doctor who called me in a prescription for antibiotics and suggested I start taking the antibiotics I had at home which were left over from the MRSA I had a while back.
So anyway... the antibiotics seem to be working. No more pus explosions. However, my shoulder is still very painful. I am convinced that there is a huge pocket of infection below the surface. The skin is really hard and hurts to touch and there is one area with white. It looks like if I poked the white with a needle, a bunch of pus would come out and actually feel really good. It's hard for me not to try that, but I know it's not a good idea. Anyway, I'll be seeing the doctor tomorrow. Hopefully this clears up quick.

What the??
You should NOT need antibiotics as a result of shots. There had better be a good explanation for this.
Whats up?
