Quiet Time

It's so very quiet in my house right now. The girls are asleep, which means there's no yelling, fighting, bickering, or nonsensical chatter. Shane is at work, which means the TV is off. The cats and dog aren't making any noise. It's blissfully quiet. The only sound I hear is the running water of one of my fish tanks.

I don't even know when I last wrote a post or what it was about. I'm guessing it's been a while. So, what have I been up to? Well, about a month or so back, my online automatic payment for rent messed up. I get paid monthly on the first. I have my rent set to automatically pay on the 2nd of every month. Well, the first of the month fell on a weekend, which prompted my bank to attempt to take the rent check from my bank account on the friday before the weekend. Like I said, I get paid once per month on the first. Therefore, at the end of the month, my account is DRY. Anyway, I tried calling the rental agency to explain the situation, and they transferred me to the manager. Now, the girl who originally answered the phone was sweet and understanding, but she transferred me to "Suzie," (I can't remember her real name, so I'm making one up) the manager. Suzie was a complete bitch to me. Shane and I had lived in this house for nearly two years at this point. And during that time, we have never ONCE been late or short on rent. And this woman talked down to me and told me I was going to get all sorts of charges and fines. She really pissed me off. As it turns out, the payment went through just fine. But Suzie's bitch attitude towards me on the phone made me decide to start looking into what Shane and I need to do to buy our own house. And you know what? Not only did I find out what I needed to do, but we're closing on our new house next week. So congratulations, Suzie. You just cost your company a great set of renters, who are soon to be homeowners.

What else? Shane has taken up a second job. He took the job so he could afford to give gifts at Christmas, however, it was pretty good timing, because a week after he started work, Miguel informed me that I will no longer be receiving child support for some undetermined amount of time. So now, this second job of Shane's will more likely be necessary just to keep food on the table.

The girls are doing pretty well. Chloe is very smart and seems to be really advanced in her reading skills. She's somewhat lacking in the social graces as her report card clearly indicates.

Leyla has really improved since she started PreK-3 in August. She's started writing letters and her drawings are getting a lot better, too. She has a very unique accent. It sounds somewhat like a British accent mixed with someone from the Bronx. And only on certain words. Very strange.

I'm excited to have our own home; however, I'm not excited to move. I'm downright dreading it. I've started collecting boxes, and I even packed one box. But that's as far as I've made it. Plus, I've got to figure out how to move four aquariums without killing my fish.

Ok, I'm tired. I'll try to post one pic.

Here are two random pics:
Leyla modeling an apron I sold on Etsy

A miniature sofa I made, currently for sale on Etsy.

I always forget to check to see if you have new posts. (I wasn't able to set your blog for an automatic reminder) So I haven't visited in awhile (sorry, plus I see what's up on Facebook sometimes) Anyway, nice to know the house thing is going through! Super cute apron with a super cute little girl. I'm sure whoever bought it won't look as cute as Chloe! Good luck on your move.

It IS pretty darn exciting about the house Missy! Now when you make big changes like throwing up a wall you won't have to worry about undoing it :0)
