The fireplace is in our living room. The walls were already painted the dark brown, and I really like that color. But the light wall in the living room was originally sponge-painted a red and orange and we painted over that. I also replaced all the switches and outlets in the living room and spray-painted the AC intake vent white. We still need to put up pictures but I can't decide what I want to put and and where I want to put it. I may just wait until after we get pictures from the wedding so we have updated family photos for the house.
The room with the blue wall and signs is Shane's man cave. It was once an outdoor patio, but somewhere along the line, someone enclosed it and made a little room.

Kitchen remodels are crazy expensive....for what it's worth I think it looks in pretty fine shape. Those cupboards (although not a color you love) will wear like iron as they are, and you'll love them in the end for that!!
And tile... well that is a heck of a lot better than vinyl.

Shane's mancave looks pretty spiffy with the blue wall and traffic signs (all legally acquired I'm sure :0)
There is plenty o time to work on sprucing things up and making changes- you'll be there...no more moving YAY! And Celiac is correct- though you may not like the color- there are good materials there to start with and you're a clever beast. You'll figure out inexpensive ways to change...
