Lily Dog

Here is a picture of Lily before I figured out she was peeing on the carpet and had to be kicked outside. This was before Christmas. Look at how white and fluffy. She's been outside for a few months now and she looks nothing like that. The fur on her belly is all matted and horrible, and she's got weeds and sticks in her fur, fleas, ticks, and who knows what else. I simply can't take care of her anymore and it's not fair to Lily, which is why I put an ad in the paper requesting a good home for her. Today was the first day the ad appeared and the calls started at 7:30 this morning. I can't believe the response I've had. I didn't think anyone would call and I've already had at least 8 people call. Some people are familiar with the breed- most are not. Most people have said they'll call back once they talk to their spouse. A few have said they're going to come see her today, but no one's showed up yet. I gave Lily a bath and brushed her as much as I could for the occasion. She looks a little better but she still needs some work. I hope I can find her a good home; she deserves it. It's hard because I've had her for 4.5 years and she was pretty much my baby until I had Chloe. Because she's my baby I want what's best for her and I know that hanging out in my backyard all day every day is not in her best interest. It's a tough decision, but I feel like I'm doing the right thing.

Oh...what a mixed emotional time for you! It made me tear up a little seeing her picture and thinking of you and her together. She was such a great companion for you and there for you in some really tough times. You're right about finding her a place where she can be happier. Tough on you though.
