Maybe not such a great idea.

After researching dreadlocks, I decided that they're probably not for me. It's actually a lot of work to get it started and you have to buy special shampoo and you have to have a friend or someone who is willing to sit around with you and knot up your hair for about 12 hours. I don't have any friends who I would ask to do that. My friends are slightly more than acquaintances. The whole point was not to have to do anything with my hair. Turns out it would be a lot more work, at least for the first 3 months or so. But I thought I'd find a picture of a white girl with nice looking dreads so you all know what I was thinking. Turns out I can't find any. I can find nice looking dreads on people with darker skin, but all the white chicks' dreadlocks were fuzzy and crazy looking. I guess it's just not something white people can pull off very well. So I'll just keep my crazy, unkempt, tired mom hair.

I finally got to talk to Miguel for more than 2 minutes today. He called me when he got out of work this morning (he works night shifts). It was really nice to finally talk to him. I told him all about my kitchen project and he said he was excited to see it. Then he started to fall asleep so I let him go. He works really hard, really long hours, so I'm not offended if he falls asleep on the phone when he gets out of work. It'll be so great to see him next month. We should end up being with him on Chloe's birthday. I have a feeling I'll need to take some cleaning supplies with me. I know his definition of clean is a lot different than mine, and I'm not exactly a neat freak.

Last night Chloe went to be really early. I figured she'd sleep a few hours and wake up and then I'd give her dinner and really get her ready for bed. But nope. She must have slept from 5:30pm to 7:00am. I didn't wake up til 7:45. She was awake by then, but she was just quietly playing in her crib. Thanks to her early bedtime, I was able to get all my tile cut and even set it into place with the thinset. All I need to do now is cut the tiles for the edge and stick them on and put in the grout. I think I'll be able to get the tiles cut when Chloe takes her day time nap, and I can do the grout tonight. I have to wait a few days before I can put the sealant on the grout lines, and I really shouldn't put in my sink til I do that, so I still won't have a sink for a few days. But that'll give me time to get started on the backsplash.

Not much going here today besides that. The recycling truck only comes by once every two weeks, and both my bins are full, but I forgot to take them out until 9:00 this morning. They usually come pretty early, so I think I may have missed them. I hate it when that happens. I'll probably just have to throw the stuff out with the regular trash, which I hate doing.

It's overcast today, so I took Chloe outside and we set up our new laundry line. Not exactly exciting, but it needed to be done, and Chloe always likes to go outside. Well, I don't really have any good new pictures or anything exciting at all to report, so I'll go ahead and sign off.

Well, I won't say I'm disappointed about no dreadlocks. I AM however excited to see the end result of all your labors on the tile. I was reading in my new tile book last night and it kind of freaked me out about all the stuff it said you needed to do to tile. Maybe I shouldn't have even looked at it? I'm sure it will all be fine in the long run. Fine, not professional, but fine is ok. right?
