A profession I never wish to have

Before...

After...

Geez Louise! Now I know why plumbers charge $60 an hour. After tightening the old shut off valves and nearly stopping the leak, I decided that nearly stopping it wasn't good enough. The old shut off valves were all corroded and covered in wall texture. After reading my plumbing book, I decided that I could fairly easily replace them, and for not much money. So this morning I went to the plumbing store and picked up all the necessary items. It set me back about $30. Considering the house call alone for a plumber is $65, not a bad deal. Oh boy, I had no idea what I was in for. Those valves are in the back corner in a cabinet, and they have obviously been slowly leaking for quite a while. I'll spare you all the details and just say that by the time it was over, I was bloody, sweaty, and uttered my fair share of curse words. But as you can see, I got it done, and as far as I can tell, no more leaks! I'm just hoping that the supply tubes reach the faucet tubes. If not, I'll have to do more crazy stuff to make them reach. I tell you what, if I were any more pregnant, I wouldn't have fit under that counter. I don't think a fat plumber could have done it. Which makes me think that maybe the stereotype of a chubby plumber is kind of off. I don't see how you could be fat and do that kind of work.

So, once I get my kitchen cleaned up I'll put the grout sealer on, and then I'll go see if the neighbor boys will come lift my sink into place. Hopefully I'll have a working kitchen sink by the end of the night! But for now, I need to take it easy because that plumbing adventure really wore me out.

Chloe loves to go to the windows and pick up the blinds and look outside. It's really cute. I just got a picture of it. I'll post it now. It's really dark, but you can kind of see what's going on.

Well, I do have a lot to do today, so I'm going to kick back for a little bit in preparation for all the work I'll be doing today.

I do not wish to have the plummer profession either. Maybe like a painter? Ps. Chloe is cute.
