Tired baby

I can't believe it. I put Chloe down for a nap at 11:00, and now it's 1:20 and still no sign of her waking up. And I haven't done any work on my kitchen at all during this huge nap. But that's ok, I got the living room picked up and ordered another square foot of my glass tile and looked over the newspaper. It's ok to take it easy once in a while. Plus, I kind of need to keep the kitchen as clean as possible during the day time because I still have to prepare food in there. It's best to save the messy construction work for after 7:00. I guess Chloe could be sleeping for so long because I let her stay up kind of late last night. She had a late afternoon nap yesterday so I let her stay up til 8:45. That's pretty darn late for her, and she still woke up at 7:00 this morning, so she's probably just catching up.

My first hibiscus bloom of the spring opened up yesterday! It was a really pretty red one. Today a big yellow one opened up, so I took a picture of it. I love hibiscus, and they're so easy to grow here, I love it. They're pretty cheap too. You can get a decent sized little bush for about $5.00.

We just had a nice little thunder storm come through. It was good because I was going to have to break down and water my lawn (which you rarely have to do here), and now I don't have to. But unfortunately I just put some laundry out to dry this morning and when the clothes got wet in the storm the weight of it apparently snapped the line. That's the second time it's snapped in the past week. I guess it's time to get new line. Now that I think about it, it's been a year since my dryer broke which means that line has been out there for a year. No, it hasn't been a year. Close to it though.

Chloe just woke up. She's making noises, but she's not calling for me to come get her, so I'll let her have her alone time. Last night I cut out the hole for my sink. I can't do much more until I get someone to help me lift the sink and make sure that it fits in the hole. I would hate to tile the entire countertop only to find out that the hole is too small for the sink. It's a really heavy sink so I will need to get help. When the neighbor and his crew get back from work I'll go ambush them and ask if they'll help me out. They do this kind of stuff all day.

Since I'm helping out the mormons by playing piano, I no longer feel guilty asking them for help. But things are different here. The ward boundaries are pretty big and as far as I can tell, no one really lives close to me, so I do feel bad asking someone to drive all the way over here to help me move something. I'll do it if I have to, but it's pretty much a last resort. Still, it's nice to have a last resort. It's also weird playing piano for the primary. There's usually about 7 kids in there. Total. When I was in primary there were about 7 kids per age group. Needless to say, when I play piano, all I can ever hear is the chorister and my shabby piano playing. I've realized that I seem to have lost the ability to learn new songs. I can play all the songs I learned in high school beautifully. And they're not easy songs. But I can hardly stumble through the children's song book.

Well, Chloe's noises are starting to sound kind of pathetic, so she may be ready to come out. One more note, I'm probably not going to post any more pictures of my kitchen project til my mother gets here. I want to surprise her with the finished product, and since I know she's my most frequent blog-reader, no more kitchen pictures. Rest assured, I will post plenty of pictures once she gets here. I know you all were worried.
