Gross dermatology stuff

I was supposed to have class today, but my instructor is out of town, so I took advantage of the fact that I already paid for daycare this week and after dropping off Chloe, I went back to the dermatologist to get my cortisone shots. The reason why I had to get a cortisone shot is because I have two hemangiomas on my arm. The one on my forearm has been professionlly removed twice and Miguel and I removed it with the help of a thread at least 3 times. Needless to say, nothing's working and it keeps coming back (it's been there for at least 4 years). I'll post a few pictures of the hemangioma at the bottom of this post. That way, you can choose to look at it or not look at it. It's not pretty. If you don't know what a hemangioma is (I didn't know until a few weeks ago) it's an abnormal cluster of blood vessels that causes the skin to raise up. And if it gets bumped, it bleeds really, really bad for a long time. In fact, all my bedding has blood stains from when I bumped it in my sleep. Nasty. Anyway, since cutting it out isn't working, the doctor decided to try and shoot it with cortisone. He doesn't know if it'll help at all, and honestly, he didn't really sound like he thought it would work. But it's worth a try because even though it really hurt a lot when he shot the large hemangioma, I'm sure it's a lot less painful than getting my whole birthmark removed with a laser. But if this doesn't work, laser removal is the next step. I'm not worried about the laser as much as I am trying to get my insurance to pay for that procedure. So hopefully the cortisone works because I do not want to mess with insurance referrals and denials and appeals, etc.

So, Chloe looks super cute today. She's finally big enough to wear this cute little blue tank top that Shelly gave her at Christmas time. And I found a little blue skirt in her drawer for her to wear with it. She looks so grown up! When she wakes up I'll take a picture and post it. I've been really lucky because so far I've only purchased about 5 outfits for Chloe since she was born. And I didn't buy them out of necessity, I just thought they were cute. I've had so many generous people give clothes to Chloe and I'm really thankful to them for doing that. And I've kept every single article of clothing, so Leyla is going to be all set when she gets here. Today when I picked Chloe up from daycare, she was standing up playing with a toy mounted to the wall and Vivian was standing next to her. When I walked in, Chloe was trying to put her finger in Vivian's mouth. It was really funny. You probably had to be there...

I've been keeping an eye on craig's list the past couple of weeks because I need to get another crib. I want to get another 3-in-1 crib so I don't have to worry about getting new beds for either one of the kids for a long time. Someone posted a 3-in-1 crib last week that's white and $60. If I like the way it looks, it would be perfect. I'm just hoping it's still available whenever I finally have an extra $60. Even if it's not, I'm sure something else will come up within the next 3 months. But craig's list has helped me out already. I got someone to come pick up my old kitchen door which had been sitting in my driveway making my house look ugly for several weeks. And I've got an appointment for a free haircut next friday! So thank you craig's list!

And here are the pictures of my nasty hemangioma if you care to look:

The pictures of Chloe were sweet. The pictures of the "gross dermatology stuff" were, well, gross. What a strange thing. Probably annoying too. You seem to have a good attitude about it though--what else can you do? It's the same great "can-do" attitude that you seem to have about everything that life dishes out. It will serve you well.

Man, she DOES look grown up in that outfit! I'm sending more baby stuff! She's growing up way too fast as it is! :0) I know Cerese has found a lot of stuff on Craig's and I think J&J have too.
