I decided I should preface this blog by letting you in on the layout of my house. I keep my mower and my clothesline on the side of the house that's next to my infamous noisy neighbors. There's a little chain link fence that separates our yards, but our houses are pretty close together, and my laundry line is pretty close to their front drive, which is where they spend a majority of their time. This picture is taken from the doorway leading to my back yard. If you were to turn to your right, my neighbor's house is right there.

This morning was beautiful. I spent a while messing with my lawn mower trying to get it to work. I was unsuccessful. Then I noticed my neighbor tinkering with his weed eater and I thought maybe he could fix my mower. So I went back outside with my tools and started to mess with the mower again. When he passed by, he asked how I was doing and I told him I was good but my mower was broken. I told him I was getting ready to take some stuff apart to try and fix it, and he said I should let him take a look at it before I start tearing it apart. Success! I didn't want to flat out ask him if he would fix my mower, and my round-about approach worked. He came over and took my mower to his house and within a half hour, he had it running. Turns out my theory was right, there was water in the gas tank. I guess I didn't dump it all out last night. Although my neighbors are pretty noisy, they are good to have around. I was so excited to have a working mower that I mowed my front lawn right then and there. I started on the back yard, but it was still pretty wet from the dew and the grass is super tall because of all the rain. Plus, it had been a little while since I put Chloe down for her nap, so I figured she would be waking up soon. My back yard is pretty big, so it takes a while to mow. I'll post a picture of it. I decided I would be better off mowing the back this evening once the grass was all dry. So I hung my laundry out to dry and as I was hanging it, my neighbor said her granddaughter was having a birthday party and she'd like me to bring Chloe by. I agreed. I figured it would be a lot more fun being part of the party than sitting in my house making sure no kids touch my grass like a crazy old lady.

After Chloe's nap, I fed her lunch and got her dressed for the party. Here she is in her pink party dress. We headed over once it looked like the party had started. I guess we were a little early, but we spent some time with the birthday girl. She's turning 3. She was very cute. While we were over there, a huge storm came in. Yet again, we had street flooding and a torrential downpour. Chloe enjoyed watching the rain and the other kids had fun running around in it and pretending they were in the shower. After a couple hours, Chloe started to get restless and then a whole bunch of kids I'd never met arrived. At that point, we borrowed an umbrella and made a mad dash for the house. I put Chloe down for her nap and I washed the dishes, and now here we are.
It was so hot this morning. While I was hanging my clothes to dry, I had sweat dripping down my face. And I remember thinking to myself, with this kind of heat, these clothes will dry in no time. Well, now they're completely soaked. They're worse now than they were when I put them on the line. I need to get my freaking dryer fixed.
