Before
Wow, looking at this picture now is amazing to me. I don't know how that room got so bad. It's kind of embarrassing, but it makes for a much more dramatic before and after. Anyway, notice the aluminum vent on the back wall with the expanding foam around the edges. It's kind of hard to see, but it did have yellow foam spewing from the edges.

Now the vent is a hammered bronze color, and even better, it's clean! I don't think the previous owners ever dusted. This was pretty obvious when we moved in and all the ceiling fans had about an inch of dust on the blades. Anyway, it's been a lot of work trying to get this house clean. That vent was really, really dusty. Since we never used this room for anything but storage, I'd never noticed how bad it was. Now if I just dust it on occasion, I won't have to pull out the big guns again to get it clean. Really the whole vent cover needs to be replaced, but I don't know how to do it, and I don't feel like learning or spending the money on it, so for now, the new coat of spray paint is just going to have to work. And the paint color kind of makes it look like an adobe house, which I think is fun. I chose flat paint because there are a lot of irregularities and imperfections on the walls. And because it looks like adobe.
So now I have to get the floor ready for paint. I need to get that done a.s.a.p. because I have to wait three days before I can put the furniture back, which means I can't get anything else done in that room for those three days. But I can work on my bedroom during that time. I finally chose my paint colors and got the paint, so now I need to wash the walls and fill the cracks and holes in preparation for painting. I chose kind of a crazy color scheme, but I think once I get everything all put together it'll be a lot of fun.
Here's a picture of Chloe in her chair again. This is before she fell out of the chair. Yup, today was a momentus day. It's the first day she's ever fallen off of something (at least while she was in my care). Every time she's been up on the bed or the couch, I've been with her, and I've caught her every time she was about to fall off. As a result, she's not careful at all, and I always have to stop her from going off the edge. So when she got up on the chair today, I just left her to it. I was pretty sure she was going to fall, but the chair's really low to the ground, so it wouldn't be a bad fall. Sure enough, she fell off. I was hoping she learned her lesson, but she was right back up on the chair in a few minutes. The problem with the chair is that it's trapped behind a huge, heavy desk that I probably could move by myself, but I really shouldn't, not at this point in my pregnancy. I'll have to get someone in here to help me sometime.
Well, Chloe seems to have fallen asleep. I didn't think she'd need two naps today, but apparently I was wrong. So I guess I'll eat dinner without her. I'll just warm hers up when she wakes up. I guess that's it for today.

That is a pretty dramatic difference. I like the color of both the wall and the vent. And you're planning to get all the rest of that stuff done "before" school starts? You better pace yourself Miss out of control do-it-yourself girl! :0)
Well, at least Chloe didn't put her eye out with the pen when she fell. Sometimes they have to learn the hard way - or not.
Speaking of do-it-yourself, I finished the chair at midnight last night. I'll try to post a before and after log today. Love you sweet pea!
I made sure she wasn't holding a pen when she fell. :)
i must say your before and after's are quite dramatic and wonderful. good work! i'm not pregnant anymore and still can't do anything that amazing.
Your before and after shots are GREAT!! I never had that much energy to do that much in my pregnancy let alone do it now.. I HATE cleaning and all the stuff that comes with cleaning... Good Work Kelsey!!! Can you send me some of you energy my way..lol..
Nice work. That is a big difference. I am excited to see what you are planning on your bedroom. I moved some furniture around in the front room.....that's all I've got. :)I can still use the excuse that I rent and can't do these kinds of projects. Thanks for your advice about my "life plan". You are awesome!
