What you've all been waiting for!

I know everyone has been unable to sleep at night wondering "when oh when is Kelsey going to post her before and after pictures of her guest bedroom???" Well, the wait is over!

Of course I'm being facetious, but I did get the bedroom to a point where it's good enough to present as a 'before and after.' And we all know how much I love before and afters. I still have some more work to do, and I'm still awaiting my twin mattress, so the bed is frumpy, but it's just going to have to do. Here we go.

My huge magnet board Here's the story to the kitchen cabinet. Miguel got this from his dad's house. His dad lives in a really old house (100 years or more). Anyway, Miguel was working on refinishing the outside of it, but he never quite finished. I decided that I wanted to refinish it and make it look antique (which it is) and distressed. I put a thin coat of white paint on it and I was getting read to paint the doors, but then I decided I kind of like the doors different colors. I was going for old and distressed, and I think that makes it look even more so. But I'm not totally sure. What do you think? Should I paint the doors white to match the rest of the cabinet? (It's now empty and clean. This is where guests can keep their belongings.)

My cat

What all I did:

  • Removed old carpet and tile under carpet (did that before I got pregnant)
  • Cleaned and organized (obviously)
  • Painted floor and walls
  • Replaced ceiling fan
  • Spray painted a/c vents and drawer pulls
  • Moved daybed from Chloe's room
  • Sewed new covers for the bolster pillows on bed
  • Repainted cabinet and drawer pulls on cabinet
  • Created huge magnet board by spray painting old metal door
  • Sculpted fish and starfish ceiling fan pulls
  • Decorated! And I mostly used stuff I already had around the house
I'm not going to go into dollar amounts, but I did this room on a very small budget. I made a lot of use out of paint and items that I already had around the house. Considering the budget, I think it turned out pretty nice! Thanks for humoring me and checking out this post!

Wow! No wonder you are going into early labor. You are over the top there Missy! The room looks great! I especially like the pillows and bed stuff. Though the sea theme is a lot of fun too.
The cabinet does look distressed. I think it looks ok, but I think I'll wait to see it in person before I offer an opinion. And from the sound of things that couls be sooner rather than later :)

You are amazing! Nice work. I love the beach theme and the netting over your cabinet. I would say leave the cabinet as is- I think it looks distressed and unique. You are one talented chica!
