Look what I can do!

Those of you who haven't seen Stewart on Mad TV won't appreciate the title and accompanying picture. To those of you who do: you're welcome.

Back to the title of this post- look what I did! I made a topographic map of the pond I went kayaking in last week. And that blue blob under this sentence is it.
Time was very limited, so I didn't do the best job, but I think it turned out pretty ok for my first try at a topo map. I went to google earth and got an aerial view of the pond. I copied and pasted the picture into photoshop. I then traced the pond, pasted the outline in a blank document and labeled all the points that I checked the depth at last week. Then I added the lines and the shading. It was fun.

And Chloe just spontaneously counted from 7 to 11. She may have started at a number before 7, but I didn't start listening until she said 7. What a little smartie pants.

I have a test tomorrow. I don't think it's going to go very well because I haven't studied at all since I had to prepare my Kokanee presentation that I gave earlier today. I think my presentation went ok, it's just a little intimidating because half of the class is comprised of graduate students, and the other four students who gave their presentations today were all graduates. But I can for sure say that I gave it my best. I really spent a lot of time working on it.

So, I guess I should probably start studying for that test instead of rambling on in my blog.

I don't think that Chloe is the only smartie pants in your house. The topo map looks terrific. I bet your presentation was great. Ask Celiac, just because someone is a "grad" student doesn't mean they are the sharpest crayon in the pack. You have no need to fear. You are probably smarter than the majority of them. You just need to believe in you. Ok, I'll get off that little soapbox. But really, you ARE so capable and smart and talented... and yes, I'm you're mom. But really!
Good luck tomorrow.
I'm taking my multi-colored haired students into compete with technical charter school geeks tomorrow morning. I hope they stand their own....
And thanks for the nice "look what I can do visual" That stuff is classic.

The map is cool.
Don't even get me started on the potential lack of quality in grad students.
I am currently saddled with a pathological liar with hairsprayed helmet hair whose work is sooo lame.
This is not hyperbole.
Grad student have taken more classes than you, but they aren't smarter. Intelligence is a very different thing than accumulated knowledge.

I hope your test goes well! wish I could have seen the Kokanee presentation. I feel somehow responsible for taking you to see your first ones!

You should feel responsible. That's exactly why I chose the Kokanee. I thought they were so pretty and I really wanted to know why they had them in those little pens. The only time I've ever seen them was with you at Redfish lake.

Great job at the pond thing, not quite sure what I'm looking at, but hey, way to go!
