Hurricane on the mind

Hurricane Ike is currently projected to hit Corpus or just north of us as a category 3 on Friday. I'm not one to worry this early, but for some reason this one's got me a little worried. I should be trying to get some sleep right now to recover from this cold or bronchitis or whatever it is I have that's taken my voice away, but I can't sleep. Not when I have to think about whether or not I'm going to have class the rest of the week and if I should try and find some plywood and get it cut to cover my 17 windows. The good news is that I don't have to worry about evacuation plans. My work provides a shelter located outside of the evacuation zone and they'll have plenty of generators and everything. That's good news. I just really don't want my windows to get all busted up (or worse) and I don't think I have the time to buy plywood (if there's even any left in this town) and get it cut to size and screw it over my windows. I certainly can't do it and take care of my two little girls at the same time.

Basically, I'm hoping that when I wake up in the morning, the new projections will have the storm headed somewhere north of us. It makes it really hard to focus on school when you have hurricane preparations in the back of your mind and you don't even know whether or not class will be held the rest of the week.

I am pretty sleepy though. Maybe now that I have some of my thoughts down in writing I can get some sleep. Wish me luck! I still have some pictures and videos of the girls from last weekend. I'll try to post them this week.

I wish you more than luck, I wish you peace of mind and the return of your voice. You sounded horrible last night. Hope you get some sleep, and all the rest. It'll all turn out.

ok, all I can think about is forget about the boards for the windows. just make sure you have tons of water for you and those girls and get yourself to that shelter.
Yikes!
Hope the night screaming is subsiding.
