Self-sufficiency and backpacks

I like to be self sufficient. It's not that I don't appreciate help, and I'm not usually afraid to ask for help, it's just that I like to do things on my own. I don't want to be a bother, and I feel good getting things done on my own. I also don't like to pay people to do things that I can do myself. I don't pay for car washes, I never hire babysitters unless I HAVE to be somewhere, and I don't pay people to cut my grass. Well, cutting the grass has turned into quite an ordeal. And my damn lawn mower is making it awfully hard for me to be self-sufficient. And I'm just going to leave it at that.

I got a new backpack today. So here's my confession: I'm a little bit obsessed with backpacks. I have at least 5 of them in my closet. I have one made specifically for holding a skateboard (among many other things), one with a patch of Ralph from the simpsons picking his nose on it, a baby blue jansport, a Targus one for my laptop, a DaKine blue and black messenger style (I bought it when I broke my elbow and had my arm in a sling), and now I have a very cute cream color backpack with pink hibiscus flowers sewn on it. I haven't bought a new bag in a few years, and it was just so cute, I couldn't resist. Plus, it's smaller than the one I was using (my Clive skateboard pack), which is good because I tend to fill the bag up with too much stuff. I really like it and I think it's a great addition to my collection.

And I'll end this post with this:

This is pretty much going to be my life for the next three months. I have about 130 fish to learn before the end of October. I need to know all the taxonomy from Phylum to Genus species, life history, anything noteable about the species, etc. Therefore, I'm going to stop wasting time here and format some fish pictures.

Something smells fishy here. I didn't see anything about those adorable kids. I know you will have the 300 fish memorized by fall easily. Miss you and the kids.

Yeah, I didn't have much to say about the kiddos today because I honestly haven't seen much of them the past two days! But I'll try to get some good pictures this weekend, and I'm sure I'll have a story or two.

How fun to have a cute new SMALLER backpack. I have had to get smaller and smaller purses because I tend to fill them up no matter the size and they began to hurt my shoulder packing them around. So, a smaller backpack seems like a good idea.
I don't envy you the fish dissecting- though I imagine it could be interesting to learn differences.
Hope you have a great weekend and I always look forward to new pics and adventures of Kelsey and the girls.

ahhh ichtheology (not spelled right, but I know what it is!)
This will truly be test of your fish dedication.
I keep thinking of one of the first times I took you fishing up at the ranch and we caught your first little brook trout.
It was evening and the sun glistened on the colorful fish. Instead of yuk, or gross the first thing you said with awe was..."beautiful"!
Hope you will still find the beauty after the semester is done.

I can't imagine keeping all those fish straight! I'm sure you will conquer it with amazing accuracy. Just catching up after a long while not blogging. I can't beleive you made $100 on your garage sale! I'm jealous. We only made about $50 and most of that was cookies! Always amazing.
