Big News!

In case you haven't heard, I've got big news! Shane asked me to marry him last night... and of course I said yes.Dylan took this picture after his asked me. That smile on my face doesn't lie- I was and am truly happy and so excited. I did NOT see it coming at all. Shane is not very vocal and also not very demonstrative, and we've never talked about getting married, so his proposal took me completely by surprise, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't been hoping for it for a while now.

Last night was our family Christmas eve's eve get-together. I really wanted to get us all together to make candles and bake cookies for Christmas, so we planned it for Thursday since we'll be with Shane's ex-in-law's on Christmas Eve. We were in the middle of making candles and I decided to play some Christmas songs on the piano. Shane went outside and when he came back in, he knelt down next to me. I was pretty into the song, and I thought he was just watching me play, so it took me a minute or two to look his way. But when I did, he was holding this... I asked him about 5 times if he was being serious. He was. I said yes and he tried to put the ring on my right hand. I directed him towards the correct hand and then gave him a huge, long hug. Sissy and Dylan were there watching and smiling. Chloe and Leyla were playing around behind me. Leyla was busy being a robot...
I think Dylan took some pictures of us hugging. I'll have to see if I can get those from him.

We don't have a date set or anything like that. Not yet anyway. But I'm so happy. I am blessed to have found a man as great as Shane who wants to be with me as much as I want to be with him.

And he did a good job picking out a ring for me. I don't want a diamond, and I don't like yellow gold. The ring is simple and shiny and goes great with my new watch. I will need to get it sized though; it's a little too large. Now, I think I want to make my own dress. And I need to lose 10-15 pounds. So the wedding will be a while off.Pistachio makes a great backdrop. Except for when she bit my hand.

CONGRATULATIONS!!

Shane, who I have never met, instantly gains in my esteem if he is smart enough to see how great you are.
As another anti diamond person I commend you on simple platinum. Lovely choice.

As for dates, dresses and such. There is time, and of course me with all my opinions have lots of thoughts about it all.

Too roughed up with bronchitis or I would call you. BUT... I'll get to see you in the flesh soooooon.

YAAY. (that is assuming the bronchitis improves which it had better)
