Last night, at 3:15 in the morning, I was sitting at the computer eating cookie dough (which I can safely do because I use egg replacer instead of eggs in my dough) waiting for Leyla to go to sleep.

I had just put in her her crib and wound up her mobile. After a few minutes her mobile stopped playing music and within a few seconds after it stopped, her fish crib toy started playing music.

I had just seen Miguel leave the bathroom, so I thought he was standing over her crib lovingly watching Leyla and decided to turn on her crib toy for her. Then I realized this was rather odd behavior for Miguel, especially at 3:00 in the morning. I decided I'd better go check it out. On my way, the toy turned off and back on a few times. When I entered the room, there was Leyla, pushing her upper body up like a seal and reaching a shaky little hand up to push the button and turn the music on. She then assumed the seal position and watched the toy intently.

I had no idea she could reach the toy, but obviously she can. And it's funny because she's never shown much interest in the toy when I turn it on. I guess it's more interesting when she does it herself. What a cutie pie.
And on a somewhat unrelated note, some people wonder how I'm able to do as much as I do with two small kids. Well, this is one way...

And that's exactly what we're doing right now.

Love the "Mom Elbows" in the picture with you and Leyla! That is a nice strategy that must work some of the time.
I can't imagine it is a primary contributor to your success, but perhaps on strategy among many?
That Leyla has a LONG reach! The day of that pic I remember that she deleted at least two things you were working on. She IS a cutie. And I think she has been carefully observing her big sista and will soon be putting all her observations to work as soon as her motor skills catch up to her mental skills.
Look OUT! :0)
Oh yeah, at first I thought you were going to give some eerie story about the toy turning on by itself and I was getting a little creeped out. So, I'm glad to hear it was lil Miss precocious.
