I'm at school right now, so it's only fitting that I write about school stuff. Today I had a little bit of a mixed blessing. For my Animal Behavior class, I had to prepare a presentation on symbiosis to be given as soon as my name came up on a list the professor handed out a while back. To make a long story shorter, I was surprised at school today when my name came up on the list. The good news is that I had e-mailed a copy of my presentation to myself about a week ago, so I was able to pull that up on the computer. The bad news is that the copy was from a week ago, so it wasn't finished. On two slides, I had big huge red letters saying "insert picture here" or "look this up." And to add to everything, when I tried to open my power point, the computer decided to restart itself. So I got to stand up there like the unprepared slacker that I've become and wait for the computer to fix itself. Anyway, the good part of the whole fiasco is that now I don't have to worry about getting my power point done over the weekend. The other good thing is that I've scored high A's on all three tests we've taken in this course so far, so hopefully my presentation won't bring my grade down too bad. Now I just have to make sure I do a really good job on my behavior study and don't mess up the last test. I really would like to get an A in this class.

In other school news, I was able to participate in two of my Fisheries Biology field trips in the past two weeks. The first one was an overnighter to an island out on the bay. I didn't think I'd be able to attend it because I'm still nursing. But my mother was here visiting, so she watched the kiddos and I took my battery operated pump, and it worked out great. My favorite part of that field trip was tagging shrimp. And yesterday we did a pond management field trip. My favorite part of that lab was rowing around the pond in a kayak. I had never been in a kayak before, and it was a lot of fun.
Things are starting to get hectic though. I have a whole bunch of presentations and papers and tests coming up within the next 3 weeks, and I'm just not ready for them. The good news is that everything seems to be pretty well spaced out instead of all that stuff occurring during one week.
But here's a dilemma I have. There's a field and sampling techniques class that's offered during summer session one, which is five weeks long starting June 2nd. I really would like to take it since it will be teaching practical techniques that I'll more than likely be using once I get a job. The problem is that it's only offered during the summer, and I can't afford daycare during summer months. I can get enough student loans to cover tuition, but that's it. Anyone have any ideas? I really want to take the course and I truly feel it will help me when I'm applying for jobs, but I just don't know what to do with my kiddos. Any ideas????

Sounds like things are going fast and furious for you. At least you had something for your presentation. It could have been much worse.
the summer class sounds like something that would be very beneficial. Maybe you can find a teen out for the summer who could do it?
